    Title:             Analyst – health and healthcare

     

    Reports to:   Research Group Director

     

    Location:      Cambridge (UK)

     

    Salary:          £27,200 - £31,500

     

    We wish to recruit an exceptional candidate at Analyst level with a track record in health and healthcare research at Masters or PhD level with experience in policy relevant research using quantitative or qualitative methods, and a good understanding of health and healthcare challenges and priorities in the UK and Europe.

     

    RAND Europe is a not-for-profit policy research organisation. Our mission is to help improve policy- and decision-making through evidence-based research and analysis. We realise our mission by undertaking objective, balanced and relevant research, sharing the insights and information widely, and working in partnership with a range of clients and collaborators.

    The role will be based at our Cambridge (UK) office but there will be some opportunity for travel. Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in one or more other languages would be an asset.     Health and healthcare Analyst position

     

    You will work in a strong team-based environment to conduct analysis relating to key areas of health services and policy in the UK, European and global settings. Funders of our research and clients include the National Institute for Health Research (in particular HS&DR and HTA programmes), the European Commission, the Health Foundation, NHS organisations, the General Medical Council, the World Health Organisation, health and medical research charities and the life sciences industry. Specific areas of focus for our work include healthcare organisation and service delivery, quality of care, evaluating new models of care, innovation in health care, medical research, policy analysis and public health. We have a particularly strong relationship with the University of Cambridge, with whom we operate the Cambridge Centre for Health Services Research (CCHSR).

     

    You will bring knowledge of health and/or healthcare, ideally in more than one setting. Ideally you will have several years’ work experience after university. You will have strong research skills in one or more of the following areas of public health, health and healthcare research, health economics, evaluation, healthcare organisation and service delivery, innovation in health care or policy analysis.

     

    You will also have very good analytical, writing and presentation skills (evidenced by examples) and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and to a range of audiences. Importantly, you will bring passion related to the field of health and healthcare research and flexibility and drive to contribute to an exciting portfolio of high quality research and analysis in order to inform policy and decision making.

     

    You may come from any relevant health or social science background – including public health, health economics, health services research, medical sociology, medical statistics or epidemiology and have experience in applying your skills to policy problems. We are particularly interested in recruiting candidates with:

    • Strong research design skills for public health or health services research; or
    • Strong quantitative research skills and experience of working with routine NHS and social care data.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manages small projects, with some supervision, including monitoring budget, timetable and deliverables
    • Drafts sections of reports with minimal supervision
    • Maintains day-to-day contact with clients
    • Contributes to impact by identifying opportunities for communication of research findings
    • Manages small proposals
    • Analyses calls for tender to identify proposal requirements
    • Drafts sections of proposals
    • Supports business development activities
    • Supports strategic corporate initiatives
    • Ad hoc duties as required
