    Job Title:       Analyst – Health Economist

     

    Reports to:   Research Group Director

     

    Location:      Cambridge (UK)

     

    We wish to recruit an exceptional candidate at Analyst level with expertise in health economics research at PhD level or with equivalent experience in policy relevant research. Experience in health economic evaluation and modelling is essential along with a good understanding of health and healthcare challenges and priorities in the UK and Europe.

    The role will be based at our Cambridge (UK) office but there will be some opportunity for travel. Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in one or more other languages would be an asset.     Health Economist Analyst position

     

    You will work in a strong team-based environment to conduct analysis relating to key areas of health services and policy in the UK, European and global settings. Funders of our research and clients include the National Institute for Health Research - for whom RAND Europe along with University of Birmingham and University of Cambridge provides a rapid service evaluation centre (‘BRACE’) - the European Commission, the Health Foundation, NHS organisations, the World Health Organisation, health and medical research charities and the life sciences industry in the UK and across Europe. Specific areas of focus for our work include healthcare organisation and service delivery, quality of care, evaluating new models of care, innovation in health care, medical research, policy analysis and public health. We have a particularly strong relationship with the University of Cambridge, with whom we operate the Cambridge Centre for Health Services Research (CCHSR).

     

    You will have a strong background in health economics at PhD level or to Masters level plus the equivalent in years of research work experience. You will have experience of the economic evaluation of health care interventions and technologies, and of the kinds of modelling required in such evaluations. Beyond that an interest in wider health systems and health services economic issues in the UK and internationally is essential. Familiarity with the economics of the pharmaceutical or other life sciences industries would be advantageous, but not essential.

     

    You will also have very good analytical, writing and presentation skills (evidenced by examples) and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and to a range of audiences. Importantly, you will bring passion related to the field of health and healthcare research, and flexibility and drive to contribute to an exciting portfolio of high quality research and analysis in order to inform policy and decision making.

    • Undertakes economic analysis including evaluation and modelling
    • Manages small projects, with some supervision, including monitoring budget, timetable and deliverables
    • Drafts sections of reports with minimal supervision
    • Maintains day-to-day contact with clients
    • Contributes to impact by identifying opportunities for communication of research findings
    • Manages small proposals
    • Analyses calls for tender to identify proposal requirements
    • Drafts sections of proposals
    • Supports business development activities
    • Supports strategic corporate initiatives
    • Ad hoc duties as required
