    Salary:           £22,250 pa

     

    We wish to recruit an exceptional candidate at Research Assistant level. The role will be based at our Cambridge (UK) office. Fluency in English is essential, proficiency in one or more other languages would be an asset.

    We are continually looking for the best new talent to join our high-performing research group. In particular, we are searching for a dedicated Research Assistant to join our Innovation, Health and Science group who can support our research and analysis activities with a flexible and collaborative approach and experience in one or more of the policy areas in which we work. The Innovation, Health and Science group at RAND Europe conducts a wide-ranging portfolio of policy research for a diverse client base in the UK, Europe and beyond. Our work covers:

    • Science / Innovation Policy (innovation models for government, horizon scanning and emerging technologies, biotechnology, digital technologies, research evaluation and impact, and research policy)
    • Health Policy (public health, health and healthcare research, health economics, evaluation, healthcare organisation and service delivery, and innovation in health care)

    This is an opportunity for a motivated individual with a background in quantitative and/or qualitative analysis to join a world-class policy research organisation with a collaborative and supportive working culture.

     

    You may come from any relevant science or social science background – including public policy research, economics, science and technology studies, medical sociology, public health, health services research, medical statistics or epidemiology.

     

    You will have strong analytical, writing and presentation skills (evidenced by examples) and the ability to communicate effectively to a range of audiences. Importantly, you will bring passion related to the field of policy research, as well as the flexibility and drive to contribute to an exciting portfolio of high quality research and analysis in order to inform policy and decision making.

    Key Responsibilities

    The role of the Research Assistant will be to:

    • Support project teams in research by:
      • conducting literature reviews
      • conducting, supporting and transcribing interviews
      • undertaking analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
      • preparing presentations and research briefs
      • coordinating meetings and events, including taking minutes

    • Analyse calls for tender to identify proposal requirements, with supervision
    • Support the collation of administrative documents for proposals
    • Draft sections of reports under supervision
    • Proof read, format and check documents
    • Make corporate contributions through supporting RAND processes such as quality assurance and research ethics
    • Provide occasional corporate support with administrative tasks
    • Communicate with clients with supervision

    Skills, Qualifications and Experience

    You will have some relevant experience, for example in a research role, including:

    • Basic knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies and their application
    • Basic report writing skill
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Intermediate Excel, PowerPoint and WordYou will also have a post graduate degree or equivalent.

    Please note this is an entry-level 2-year fixed term position.
